Knights Of Valour is part of a pretty popular series from IGS that is based around the historical novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms". Known by some simply as "Sangoku Senki", this particular game is sometimes known as "Shin Sangoku Senki". Anyway, the game was made in 2003 and features 2D characters and 3D backgrounds.

The game is okay, if not a bit basic (for 2003, perhaps more so). You can choose from six characters and unleash a few basic combos and special attacks. You can grab various items for points and items for health and special power (grabbing a health power-up at full life will give you bonus points). One interesting thing is that you can go on alternate routes and make decisions such as choosing "Yes" or "No" as to whether or not you want to take on different missions. A good thing to note is that 2-player simultaneous action does add some needed mayhem (you can do larger combos and double team combination attacks and alternate double magic combinations and such).

As you might suspect from watching this video, the emulation of this game is not perfect; there are (as far as I know) some small graphic and sound issues that still need to be fixed, but the game is still very playable and it isn't too bad. One thing I don't like is that the controls seem a bit stiff; combos don't activate all the time and the basic "A button" combo string doesn't seem to finish half the time unless I really mash the button aggressively. Character movement also seems a little clunkier than it should in a game like this.
