Before we decided to head to San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato, Jesse and I thought we'd move to Merida. The city has a good-sized expat population and people love it there. The one thing that tipped the scales in favor of Central Mexico was the weather... but it's winter now, and I decided I could use a little Yucatan sunshine, so Harper and I flew across the country for our first visit to the peninsula.
