In his TEDx-talk he derives four basic hints on how to make a whole audience listen. Of course, taking care for the audience’s needs is of topmost relevance. When the speaker knows them, he will be able to choose and introduce best-fitting topics. The baseline for the speaker is to use the whole setting, such as room or voice. And finally, the speaker should know him best so that he can guide the audience. Martin Baumann has a degree in electrical engineering, studied theoretical medicine and did his doctorate in biology. He qualified as university lecturer in medicine, received a master’s degree in medical education and is a certified trainer for university teaching. Consequently, he does research both in medical engineering and in university didactics. He received several local, national and international awards for his educational teaching projects. He is author of some dozens journal articles, several book chapters and a book on teamwork techniques. Far more important to him than these sober CV facts are his passion for and pleasure in teaching. He understands himself as both lifelong learning student and a coach for students who strives to support the understanding in science. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
