In October 2014, Kaylyn Whitaker was shot to death in the Martinsville, Illinois home she shared with her fiancé, Connor Scott. Initially, Scott told authorities that he was sleeping next to Kaylyn when the gun went off and he believed she committed suicide.

Kaylyn’s parents never believed that story and were adamant that Scott had murdered their daughter. More than 4 years later, Scott walked into a police station and finally confessed to the crime.

“He was a good liar. That’s all I have to say,” says Kaylyn’s mother, Leslie, after hearing the transcript of Scott’s call to 9-1-1 for the first time. “I have to disagree with you,” says Dr. Phil, adding, “He’s really not a very good liar here.”

Connor Scott is currently serving 37 years in prison to be followed by three years’ parole. He is not eligible for early release.
