Joshua Tree is one of my favourite places for landscape photography, but I thought I'd mix some portrait images in there this time too!

We left early for Joshua Tree National Park. We had the goal to shoot some landscape photography at a place called Arch Rock. And, truth be told, we were a little bit late arriving to our location. But, it didn't make much difference. The light popped off for us in the perfect way.
Joshua Tree National Park is one of the best places in the US for landscape photography, and that's what we did. But, I also wanted to take the opportunity to shoot some portraiture photography as the locations at Joshua Tree really lend themselves well to making portraits. So, I used @alajode as a model, and we knocked out some really cool images in the early morning.
Portrait photography is one of the skills I love working on. And, I guess if I have any photography tips for beginner photographers in this regard it's to get close to your subject, and use the light to your advantage. I did a lot of back-lit portraits, and that just seemed to work best.
As a travel photographer, I think it's so important to mix different styles of imagery when you're out taking pictures. I find it so important to shoot to shoot landscape photography, but then also mix in some people to your photos, as well as shoot some straight up portraits.
Tomorrow on the photography channel, it's another income report! Stay tuned.
