A great borek option for vegetarians or an alternative for ground beef borek. You have to try this mussel shaped borek recipe! Either way, you will love this turkish borek recipe. Very nutritious with the lentils in it, and so simple to prepare with this step by step video! A very good excuse to use green lentils, they are also high on protein just like meat!
Directions: Wash the lentils, and cook, covered 20 minutes in simmering water Strain the lentils when they are tender and no longer crunchy Pour 2 tbs oil into a pot and fry chopped onions When onions are brownish, add boiled lentils Add Black pepper , Red Pepper Flakes, Salt Give it a stir and turn the heat off Mix vegetable oil, milk and water in a large bowl Brush this mixture all around the phyllo pastry Transfer the borek on the baking paper Brush some egg yolk on the borek You can garnish with black cumin or sesame seeds! On 200C (400F) pre-head oven, back for 30-35 minutes.

1 cup green lentils
1 chopped onion
4 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon salt
Half teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Ingredients for Preparation Pastry:
3 big filo pastry
Half a glass of milk
Half a glass of water
Half cup of vegetable oil
For the top:
2 egg yolks
Cumin or sesame
