The Detroit Free Press reports that the placement of a Pokemon gym and various PokeStops at a park in St. Clair Shores, Michigan has turned it into a crowded destination for Pokemon Go players.
Residents who live near Wahby Park have complained of blocked driveways and people trespassing on private property to catch the game’s digital creatures.
Local couple Scott Dodich and Jayme Gotts-Dodich repeatedly sought to have the gym and stops removed by submitting a designated request form on the game’s website. According to Click on Detroit, the couple received only generic responses and their requests were largely ignored.
Consequently, the couple filed a class-action lawsuit in federal court against game developer Niantic, major shareholder Nintendo, and the Pokemon Company. The suit claims that Niantic may be liable for nuisance after placing pokestops on or near private property with the consent of the owners.
