When it comes to the serve, you can have a slightly different motion from the deuce court to the ad court; however, it should not be extreme as Jeff has noticed during the last decade as a high performance tennis coach.
Jeff performs a detailed serve technique comparison between the deuce and ad court where he focuses on the stance, shoulder turn, and elbow position. He considers that having a massive difference on your serve motion can hinder your consistency and disguise. Instead, you should focus on making minor adjustments and keep a solid base on both ends.
Finally, Jeff suggests checking your service motion from both the deuce and ad court to find out whether you’re making a similar mistake, so you can fix it right away. He believes both players and coaches should pay attention to these small technical details of the serve.
