What you probably did not know is that most pro male tennis players reach average speeds between 71 to 83 mph on their forehands. What allows them to hit it so hard?
Jack Sock holds the record with an average speed of 86 mph with his modern forehand. Dominic Thiem, Stan Wawrinka and Juan Martin Del Potro are 3 of the other players in the above 80 mph club.
Federer, Djokovic, Nadal, Dimitrov all come in between 77-79 mph with Andy Murray forehand speeds averaging at 75 mph although his fastest clocked speed is actually 124mph!
Pro tennis players use a combination of Wrist Lag and Racquet lag, Body rotation and leg power as well as using the correct stance on every shot to generate the force needed to hit the ball hard. In this video we cover them all and help you join the 80mph club.
Do you work on these with your coach?
